Panoramic pictures

You can avoid a lot of lens distortion by taking a series of shots with a standard lens and merging them digitally.

There has to be at least 30% of overlap.

 

  1. Use a tripod. 
  2. Shoot in a RAW format as there is no compression.
  3. Position your camera horizontally. 
  4. Identify a correct exposure by using Aperture mode. The aperture should be high enough to achieve a sharp picture.
  5. Check the ISO and shutter speed and check that there are no blown highlights.
  6. Find your focal distance. That is the distance from the camera sensor to the point you want to focus on the lens and make sure the picture is sharp.
  7. Change the camera to Manual mode and use these settings.
  8. Finally, choose the white balance and use the same for each picture.
